I'm a Genie in a bottle, Baby!

Here's my new Jade Plant.  I've been babying this plant since I got it because I lost the last one I had from "Root Rot".  I know totally gross, but you didn't see what I did and smelled!  PU!

For Christmas my daughter got me two of the Plant Genie!  It's an automatic Watering System, so I won't over water my baby plant.  At least that's what I'm hoping.  Wish me luck!

This mini globe simply needs to be filled with water and stuck into the pot next to the plant. It then waters it a little bit at a time, keeping it watered without giving it too much.

Because of its size, it is hardly noticeable. However, it does mean we have to remember to re-fill it once a week or so; a process that isn’t as hard as it might sound.  They do come in bigger sizes for bigger plants.  So, we'll have an update in a few weeks.

HAPPY WW!

HAPPY MUSIC MONDAY!

It's Music Monday one of my favorite Meme's to do.....

Yes, Music Monday!  Today's theme is from your first record, CD, etc. Well, I'm not quite sure what that means, but as far back as I can remember I had storybook records when I was little, and I remember Peter and the Wolf was one of them because it use to scare me to death, but as for my teenie bopper years I think one of my first records was "Rag Doll", by the Four Seasons.

What's  moving you today?  So, the only thing I can tell you what I really need to do today is too have "HAPPY FEET", because I've gotten behind on my work.  So come on feet let's get a movin'!

Update on my Shape-Ups Skechers

I told you I'd give you an update on my Skechers Shape-Ups, and here it is.  I've been walking on these at the health club, and around the house.  One thing I found out about them is they're heavy, and hot!  I use those little footie socks, and that seems to help some.  Heel/Toe, Heel/Toe that's the key to these shoes otherwise, you'll stop yourself short, and trip yourself up.  It definitely makes you stand up straight, so it does give you better posture.

I also have to admit that these shoes have the most cushion in them then I've ever bought.  They are so, so, comfy.  They're like walking on pillows tied to my feet.

So there you have Skechers has my vote as far as comfort and fit.  Now if they help with the exercise, toning, etc., I'll let you know in a few weeks.  The Skechers Shape-ups shoes, and I have become one!  I always did love comfort!

FRIDAY PHOTO FLASHBACK!

A friend of mine started "Friday Photo Flashback" because of having so many pictures from her PRE-digital camera days. She thought it would be fun to scan them and share them here with you. I'm having so much fun doing this, that I would love for you to join me, too! So dig out the photo albums and put your scanner to good use! Don't forget to sign in to MckLinky so we can all visit and comment on each others blogs!  I personally think it's a great idea, and sounds like fun!  I totally love old pictures.  Hey I use to have a camera like that.

This was taken back in 1992 when I was only dating my husband and we were in a band together.  I played keys and sang, and Dave was lead guitar and vocals also.  In case you're wondering Dave is holding a shaker in his hand, and that's a mic in  mine.  Rick was behind the drums.  We played the Tiger Club here.  The name of our band was:
  "Perfect Chaos"

SURPRISE/ALOHA FRIDAY/ HAPPY FRIDAY FOLLOW!

ALHOHA!
Today is the day I let you in on my little secret.  I have been accepted for a scholarship at the Delnor Health and Wellness Center in my neighborhood.  Last Monday was my first day, and I signed up for their Water Aerobics.  First let me tell you I was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis in 2006.  I've had surgery (L4&5 fused together), but it hasn't done any good.  Actually, it's been getting worse.  I've decided to do something about this on my own (being as there isn't a doctor out there that can help me thus far).  The first thing on my agenda is to lose weight.  As I have told you, my darling daughter bought me the Sketchers, and recently she won the ShatoBu, which is a tummy shaping, muscle toning, and calorie burning shaper.  The workout you wear!  I will be doing an update on my Sketchers (possibly tomorrow).  I have weighed in on Monday, and I shall be keeping a log as to how much I lose each week.  What you see to your right is the scale in the Women's Locker room (which has recently been remodeled).

What you see here is to your left is the Delnor Health and Wellness Center.  This is not only a health club, but it's also where therapy is done for all sorts of health problems young and old alike.  They also have personal training available, and you can even schedule a massage.

Below are the showers (to the right), and straight ahead is the Whirlpool that  you can sit in after a good workout!  Also, to the left they do have steam rooms. To the right is our track and treadmills etc. Some of the pictures are from the website because I found out that I couldn't take pictures unless I had permission, which I'm looking into.  I'll be filling you in from time to time, and let you know how I'm doing.

So that's my update for  now.  More to come on Tuesday.  Stay tuned for the new life for XmasDolly (I hope.  Do wish me  luck I'm afraid I'm going to need it this time.  Have a wonderful weekend).

Mine is the no white diet.  No bread, pasta, etc.  It worked once for me.  Now, I  have to see if I can do it again.

SHAPE-UPS ARE MINE - SKECHERS!!! WOO HOO!

So, as you all know it was my birthday last Sunday on the 13th, and what did I get for my birthday WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL,  I got Shape-Ups new from Skechers.  I've been wanting these for a while, and my Son-in-law and Daughter (NightOwlMama) got them for me.  WOO HOO!

Shape up while you walk!  Hmmm, Easy for them to say.  When I tried them on at the store there was another lady walking around with them trying to see if she could balance herself.   "It makes you walk with good posture", she said.  I learned that you also have to put your heel down first, and then walk into the step. Heel - Toe. Heel - Toe.  Personally, I think these shoes are going to be for walking around the house at first then on to the health club.  My feet have a tendency to get hot fast.  So, maybe I'll look into those Skechers sandals.  Hmmm.

So, here's what I'm going to do.  This will be "Part I" of my Skechers Adventure, and I we keep you posted as to how I like them, and what they've done for me.  I'm also hoping they will help my back.  Having Spinal Stenosis is no fun, believe me.  We're still working on the problem, and I hope they find some solution soon.  The booklet says Shape-Ups are designed to promote weight loss, strengthen back, firm calf, and buttock muscles, reduce cellulite, and tone your thighs, increase cardovascular health, improve posture, and reduce stress on knee and ankle joints.  Okay, that's a whole lot of work to do just for a little pair of shoes, but we're all going to find out over the next month or so.

"The studies show that Shape-ups' dynamic rolling bottom, soft foam insert and dual-density midsole may produce real results. Check out the results from the tabs above to learn how you can get in shape without setting foot in a gym!"  Seems to me waitresses would benefit by these shoes drastically for one.  Maybe I should have had these when I was working downtown walking to and from the train station!  I must say they are extremely comfortable.  It's like walking on soft pillows, a cushions or even on a cloud in my bare feet.  It also states that not only do they strengthen your muscles, but they also increase blood flow, and reduce the impact on your joints, and lower back.  Ahhh, that's for me.

They come with blue or white shoe strings, and they're quite stylish!  So, here we go;  Straight and tall, improves blood circulation, posture, strengthens back, firms buttocks, tightens abdomen, reduces cellulite and tones thighs, and firms calf muscles.  They recommend starting out with five to ten minute increments.  Okay, sounds good to me.  That will be done in the house until I get use to keeping my balance.  Since my back surgery I have this phobia of falling - so not good!  So, in the house will be fine for a while.  Then we'll venture outside maybe in the drive-way with my cane up & down.  That sounds good.  So, until next time and Part II of my Skechers Shape-Up Adventure!  "These Shoes were made for walking, and that's just what they'll do"!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

I was raised in Chicago, IL. (Mayor Daly's neighborhood), a place called, "Bridgeport", which was predominantly Italian at the time.  This little lady smack in the middle was my grandmother with her fur stole on & black hat.  She was a whole lotta woman & a whole lotta fun!  She was walking in the St. Joseph's Day parade, which my Grandfather was also President of the club at the time.  Behind her is "All Saints Church", which was torn down because of I55.  What a shame it was gorgeous.  (Second picture).

My question is if you could go back in a period in your life just to relive one day when would it be?

I have to say it would be when I was about 9 or 10.  We use to go to my Gram's every Sunday for dinner, and every aunt, uncle and cousins (mom's family) was there.  The love poured, and so did the fun.  Yes, that would be one of the times I'd like to relive.

I am also joining in with Friday Follow. So if you happen to visit and follow me, I will definitely be following you back!
